Singer stainless steel rice cooker

Singer Stainless steel rice cooker

The Singer rice cooker is a basic cooker with a stainless steel finish, glass lid and a stainless steel pot. It has a 15 Cup capacity with an auto-cook function that ensures perfectly cooked rice every time and a keep-warm function to keep your meal warm until you are ready to remove it from the rice cooker.

Features:

  • 15 Cups (2.5 Litre) Cylinder Rice cooker with brushed Stainless Steel housing
  • Glass lid, and Stainless Steel inner pot
  • Cook and warm functions
  • 230-240V, 50/60Hz, 900W

I’ve had a few rice cookers with the non-stick coated pot in the past but after a while the non-stick coating wears off. So this time I wanted one that had a stainless steel pot because who knows where the non-stick coating has ended up, I mean has it been ingested?

The Singer rice cooker is a large capacity unit that has basic features. It cooks the rice quickly and well.

The problem with this rice cooker is that it cooks the rice at a high temperature making the water boil over and splash everywhere. To solve this problem, I’ve worked out that you have keep the lid a jar when the water starts to boil and to put the lid back on when most of the water has evaporated. This would not be suitable for anyone wanting a rice cooker that you can set and forget.

The other thing is that the cooker is not insulated and there is no reheat function to reheat the left over rice still in the cooker. The warm function doesn’t work as reheat, I have learnt that the hard way. Putting the rice cooker on the cook function to reheat the leftover rice seems to work, however you end up with a crust on the bottom of the pot.
