Panasonic Bread Maker SD-2501

If you like the smell of fresh bread and the idea of eating fresh bread without the “extra ingredients” then do yourself a favour and get a Panasonic bread maker.

Panasonic Bread Maker SD-2501
For the past few years I have been making my own bread with an Aldi bread maker that was given to me. I just realised since upgrading to the Panasonic SD-2501 bread maker that I have been eating medicore bread all this time! I have made many loaves and they all came out soft and fluffly with the Panasonic bread maker! Just like store bought but without the extra ingredients! Who knew that was possible! Now I just need an automatic bread slicer!

The first loaf I made was 50% wholemeal and 50% plain flour, omitted milk powder and substituted the butter for oil and it came out great.

Besides making regular bread, you can also make gluten free bread, jam and compote. I like the slim design, takes up less space on the bench top and is quieter than my previous machine.

It takes about 5 hours to knead and bake a loaf, most of the time is resting and rising  which I guess is what makes it soft and fluffly. There is a rapid menu which is about 3 hours and  the results are about the same.

The bread tin has a non stick coating and after making a nut loaf once I noticed that there were scratches on the bottom of the tin from the chopped nuts which is disappointing. There are 3 sizes of bread you can make from medium to large to extra large. The tin measures 19cm W x 14cm D x 15cm H, so your loaf will always be 19cm x 14cm but how high will depend on the size you select. The larger size bread is just taller rather than wider so if you make a larger loaf it may not fit in a regular toaster.

The only thing I don’t like about it is that measurements for the flour is in grams instead of cups considering they give you a cup for measuring liquids and a measuring spoon. It would have been more convenient if they made the cup with measurements for the flour too. I converted the grams of flour from a website into cups which makes it easier. Also, the cup could have been wider rather than tall and slim which makes it harder to wash. The teaspoon of the measuring spoon is annoying to wash too due to the shape.
